It’s nice to be surrounded by your hobby with good happy little reminders that make you smile and your eyes widen as you get a bit giddy. It’s kind of how I feel reading lovely people’s sewing blogs but other things trigger this too.
Why the focus on this (probably obvious to everyone) obsession? Well Project Runway Season 10 starts TONIGHT in the US and I can’t wait until I can see a clip of Tim Gunn’s little face as he spies something truly horrendous being made.
I have a pinterest board called “Things that make me smile”. It does exactly what it says on the tin people. And I don’t always put sewing related things in there but a few have made me smile lately:
Other things making me smile is my new sewing compendium bought by my mum for me.
Such cute funny pictures (unintentionally of course)… got to love 80s photography.
This one is just generally awesome.
🙂
I also want to go to the Yorkshire Fashion Archive at Leeds University soon but with the silly opening hours I need a day off work. Hope it’s good! I want to wander round in a jealous glazed stupor at the beautiful garments on display.
Hope these little bits made you smile too!
love the sewing machine! my yummy boyfriend bought me a sewing magazine (can’t remember the name) at the weekend (without any prompting or hinting!) and it had this advertised…I WANT ONE!

total machine envy like i have with your post!
Ooooh nice! I wish my little toyota had more fancy stitches sometimes.
Also good work by your boyfriend! You’re a lucky lady.
Jim just asks if I’m going to use the noisy machine (my serger) and when am I going to make the pjs I promised him. Haha
oh, that machine is glorious! and i adore the monkey 🙂
Thanks! Check out the other monkeys she’s done. Oh gosh, and the fish and the polar bear! Spigging awesome!!
What a nice post. Glad I happened upon it. You definitely made me smile.
The lion is awesome!!! And three cheers for project runway, I’m having a ladies premier party at my house tonight. Wine will be drank!
Ooooh premier party!! I was there in spirit.
I wish the lovely Tim Gunn was my uncle/sewing mentor. And since its my daydream he’s married to Stephen Fry so I have two lovely uncles, who’d come round for awesome dinner parties!
A girl can dream 🙂
