Hello and welcome to Almond Rock.
I’m Amy, a happy little lady from Leeds.
Sewing rocks my socks off, and I’m guessing you’re pretty keen on it too if you’re visiting my site.
You might also recognise me as Editor of Love Sewing, the UK’s brightest sewing magazine.
I started sewing in 2010 after taking adult evening classes in dressmaking.
Truth be told, I’m rather partial to a strong gin cocktail, a well stocked library and a fluffly cat.
Blog comments make me super smiley so please leave a message. I try and reply to everyone.

Wow – if you’ve only been sewing since 2010 the things you’ve made are amazing. Puts me to shame and I’ve been sewing since the 1980’s!
Aww what a nice thing to say! Thank you. I’m sure with your wealth of sewing experience you’re a force to be reckoned with 🙂
Was it 2010 we did our class? Wow, I can sew shirts now! Woo!
Look at us. Woop!
where did you do your sewing class Amy?
I can’t believe how much you have sewn. You must spend all your spare time sewing. Particularly liked the starry dress and blue jacket. Well done – a real inspiration.
You have a wonderful, well laid out blog. I look foward to checking it out more!

Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you like it 🙂
Your blog might be erratic, but I don’t mind. It’s great! Clean, easy to follow. Loving the Scub black dress you made. Really nice quality finish on it. Well Done.
I’ve just received the latest Love sewing nmagazine and I was so pleased that you’re the new editor! I love the mag and you’re blog!
Thank you! It’s a wonderful magazine to work on
I’ve been sewing since 2013, but only consistently since this past January. Your blog has really encouraged me! Gives me hope :). Can’t wait to keep up with all you’re making!

Hi – as you took part in the #sewingsanta last year, I thought you might like to know about this year’s version, #stitchingsanta. Find out about it here – http://sewchet.com/2015/10/13/stitchingsanta-blog-christmas-gift-swap/
It was your Two-face costume blog post that helped me to sew my own! And it turned out great. I discovered that I really like sewing this way! Thank you so much.
Like others I can’t believe you have only been sewing since 2010. Love the things you have done – extremely inspirational. I have only been sewing for 3 yrs and wish I had discovered it sooner as I am older and not so quick to learn the skills. Looking forward to seeing other things you are making. Thanks for posting and helping us less experienced sewists.
