RIT Dye Scalloped Dress

Ever wanted to dye your own fabric? I made a YouTube video, where I’m doing just that and showing you how to dye your own fabric at home.

I love using RIT dye for my home fabric dyeing projects and wanted to turn my white Fabric Godmother palm tree broderie anglaise to apple green!

I dyed 1.5lbs of fabric with 1 bottle of RIT apple green dye. As I explain in the video I used more dye than you need, to try and get a super rich colour! All you need are a few household supplies and a big tub or pot to try this at home.

I’m also sharing how I created my dream eyelet dress with scalloped hem and neckline details. This involved both underlining and lining the dress which I show you in detail.

I adapted a McCall’s bodice to have a scalloped neckline and used a large gathered rectangle for the skirt. I’m so pleased with the placement of the palm trees on the bodice and the scalloped hem detail. What do you think?  Hope you can spare some time to watch the video and enjoy what you see.
